Prevent Apple Watch launching Now Playing

Stop your Watch from automatically displaying the currently playing song

-

Although watchos 5 is almost upon us, some features from watchos 4 have not been touched. One of them is the default setting that ensures audio apps playing songs or podcasts will always appear when you wake the screen. This can be handy since it lets you adjust audio without opening the relevant app. At the same time, it can be annoying if all you want to do is check the time, the date or your current Activity data – you need to clear them from the screen before accessing such things.

So here we look at how you can change the situation and prevent Now Playing from appearing automatically. Of course it also means you’ll have to open the Music app if you do want to alter the volume or access the play and pause controls but there is a nice little workaround to ensure you don’t need to scour around the app-launcher to do so. Over these pages, we show you the simple steps needed to achieve all of this.
