Is there a way to keep apps open on my Apple Watch? They keep closing when I lower my wrist!

- Marcus Hansraj

We’ve all felt that pain, when you’re using an app on your Apple Watch, you lower your wrist for a moment or two and then the screen goes black – and then you have to manually re-open the app to continue where you left off. Luckily there is a way to automatically launch your last app used on the wake screen instead of it displaying the time and it can be done straight from your watch or via the ‘Wake Screen’ settings in your iphone app.

Scroll down

Scroll down slightly to this section of the ‘Wake Screen’ settings screen and you will see the same four options that are viewable via your iphone Watch app…

‘Always’ apps

To effectively extend the same In-session wake-up to all apps, not just the ones we mention here, simply select the ‘Always’ option from the list.

In Session

Some apps will always re-appear when you raise your wrist regardless of what you choose here. They include Workout, Maps, Remote Timer and some third-party apps.

Go to Settings

To get to this screen you need to launch the Settings app on your Watch. Tap ‘General’ and then select the ‘Wake Screen’ option to arrive here.
