How jane and steve did it
‘Planning ideas on a moodboard before the extension was built helped us to get the result we wanted. It created a picture of our vision to share with the builder and kitchen designer, so we were all on the same page. We spent a lot of time choosing the units – the grey matt finish is timeless, but we added shine and colour with accessories. We lived in the house during the building work, which cost around £40,000 and took six months – far longer than we anticipated. We had no kitchen for weeks, which was tricky with our young boys. Some of the unit doors were faulty, which caused further delay. The installation cost about £3,000. We waited for four years and saved up for our dream kitchen, and overall we’re really pleased. It’s perfect for our boys to play in and for us to entertain friends, too.’
