DIVISION ONE Bellanaleck ‘A’ 1 Aghadrumsee ‘B’ 2
AN anticipated clash between two teams in the top half of the table. In the reverse fixture it was Bellanaleck who left Aghadrumsee with three points. With both teams continuing to push for the title this game would be highly contested.
The first game was Ian and Philip Elliott against George Williamson and Bob Graham. Bellanaleck would take the first game after a tight opener, winning 21-18. In the second game the Bellanaleck pair took a swift lead and managed to hold on, winning 21-12.
In the next match it was Jonny Willis and Lee Sheridan against Mark Johnston and Daniel Williamson. In the opening game the two pairs were point for point.
In the final points of the game Johnston and Williamson managed to pull away from 18-18 to win the game 21-18. In the second game the Aghadrumsee pair improved their game and managed to hold their opponents off for a 21-12 win.
Ian Elliott and Jonny Willis played George Williamson and Mark Johnston in the next game. The Bellanaleck pair had a strong opener catching the two Aghadrumsee men off guard and winning 21-16. After the switch it was Williamson and Johnston who took control in the second game cruising to a 21-12 win.
In the decider the Aghadrumsee men continued their good run defeating Elliott and Willis 21-13.
Finally, it was Phillip Elliott and Lee Sheridan against Bob Graham and Daniel Williamson. After a poor opener the Aghadrumsee pair found themselves badly behind and failed to catch up to Elliott and Sheridan who took the game 21-15.
In the second game, Graham and Williamson managed to find their feet and were able to narrowly steer the match towards a decider after a 21-18 win. In the decider the two pairs were evenly matched up until 8-8, the Aghadrumsee men managed to make it to 11-8 when the pairs swapped sides.
Graham and Williamson took control of the game and managed to push on to a 21-8 win, taking Aghadrumsee’s third point of the night.
Newtownbutler 4 Maguiresbridge 0
A Newtownbutler side looking to keep their place at the top of the table, hosted an ever-improving Maguiresbridge team.
Philip Hutchinson and David Johnston were first up against Lloyd
Mcwilliams and Richard Farrell. The Newtownbutler men showing their strength managed to take the first point of the night after a 21-13 win followed by an equally impressive 21-14.
The next game was Gordon North and Stephen Scott against Colin Kennedy and Stephen Dixon. Another strong pair for Newtownbutler, they managed to see of a good challenge from the Bridge men, winning 21-14 and 21-18, taking Newtownbutler’s second point of the night.
Hutchinson and North played Mcwilliams and Kennedy in the third match. Again, the Newtownbutler team played a strong game and managed to take the win 21-14.
In the second game the Bridge pair came back a lot stronger, however it was still not enough to force a decider after Hutchinson and North won 21-17.
Finally, Johnston and Scott played Farrell and Dixon. In a tough game for the away team, Newtownbutler managed to show why they are still this season’s favourites for the league after an impressive 21-11 and 21-12 win, sealing their fourth point of the night.
DIVISION TWO Kinawley 1 Florencecourt 3
KINAWLEY hosted Florencecourt in the two sides’ first meeting this season. The opening game was Alastair Wallace and William Burleigh against Steven and Chris Brady. In a tense opener the home side managed to take the win 25-23. In the second game the Kinawley men came out a lot stronger and managed to defeat the Brady men 21-8.
The second game was Stephen Crawford and Steven Crawford against Johnny Skuce and John Wallace. Skuce and Wallace managed to take the first game 21-13.
In the second game the Florencecourt men were equally as strong, winning 21-12.
Alastair Wallace and Stephen Crawford played Steven Brady and Johnny Skuce in the third match. The opener fell the way of the Florencecourt men, winning 21-15.
The Kinawley men improved their game in the second set winning 21-12 and forcing a decider. In an equally intense third game luck would fall to the Florencecourt men who managed to take the point following a 21-19 win.
Finally, it was William Burleigh and Steven Crawford against Chris Brady and John Wallace.
The Florencecourt pair played an impressive opener with a 21-9 win. In the second game Kinawley played a lot better, however it was still not enough to force a third game. Florencecourt managed to take the game 21-14 sealing their third point on the night.
