Tummery lodge protest following Junior Cup defeat
ENNISKILLEN Rangers’ place in this year’s Junior Cup final has been thrown into doubt after Tummery Athletic lodged a protest following last Wednesday’s fonacab Irish Junior Cup semi-final defeat after it emerged Enniskillen Rangers had a suspended player in attendance at Ferney Park.
Jordan Mcclure was reportedly in Enniskillen Rangers’ match preparations despite being suspended for the game following his dismissal the week before.
Tummery Athletic player Kevin Mcaleer was also suspended for the game but was not involved with the Tummery squad during the semi-final.
Rangers defeated Tummery 3-1 at Ferney Park last week with first-half goals from Nathan Khan, Mark Cutler and Joel Byrne.
Protest
However, the Dromore side have launched a protest to the Irish Football Association (IFA) about Mcclure’s involvement.
Under article 15.9 of the IFA’S Disciplinary Code, for a standard suspension, it states: “A standard suspension is a ban on taking part in a match with a player or official not permitted to enter the dressing room area, the player’s tunnel, the technical area, the substitute’s bench, the area immediately surrounding the field of play or the playing surface at any match played.”
Under article 22.1, the code states: “If any player participates in a match whilst being suspended or if any player breaches the terms of his suspension his club will be sanctioned with a minimum fine of £600 (imposed on Senior teams), £450 (imposed on Intermediate teams) and £350 (imposed on Junior teams).
“Additionally, the Club will forfeit the match by the score 3-0.”
Enniskillen Rangers would not comment on the protest, Tummery confirmed the lodging of the protest while The IFA have also been contacted for a statement.
The two sides will meet again this month for another semi-final decider, this time in the Mulhern Cup.
