Johnny hits 43 points to tame Kathleen

-

Enniskillen

DESPITE the prevailing Storm Kathleen our course remained open due to the hard work of the greens staff and volunteers.

Carefree Travel Open

It was Johnny Graham who came out victorious in Saturday’s ‘Carefree Travel’ Open, with him well and truly taming Kathleen, with a ground breaking 43 points.

Johnny had 11 pars and a birdie in less than stellar conditions.

Making up the other prize winners were the energetic Daniel Clyde and Stephen Doherty both with 35 points with Daniel winning on a better back nine.

Malcolm Branley took 4th place and last week’s lucky ‘Joker’ winner, Trevor Camley, secured 5th place.

Ladies

The ladies were also out in force although they did not manage to tame the wind so well.

The winner was Catherine Cordell with 33 points. Runner up was Patricia Durnien and third Dympna Slowey.

The ladies also generously award prizes for the nines with Josie Boyle and Deirdre Slater bagging front and back 9 respectively.

Dympna Slowey managed a 2 on the day but unfortunately it was on the 6th and not in line for Captain Gary’s prize for the 11th.

This weekend’s competition for both ladies and gents is sponsored by ‘Lochside Garages’.

Monthly Medal

The first Wednesday competition for the men was the April Monthly Medal sponsored by Mark Mcvitty Electrical.

It was Ian Lyttle who won it with a nett 68.

In second place, Michael Keys with a -1, 70 in his first competition of the year.

Off the pace but still in the winner’s circle were 3rd, James Lawn and 4th Eugene Donahoe.

Captain Gary has kindly put a competition prize this year, for 2’s on the 11th hole.

It was young Keys who was first to get his name on the board with his sublime putting skills.

In the ladies section Orla Foster is certainly holding her own returning nett 71.

Dympna Slowey took second place with nett 75.

Alice Hurst, our young star, got 3rd spot with nett 79 on countback from Helena Tisdall.

Keep up the form ladies. If Ian and Orla keep this up, they will be the pair to watch for the sought after Archdale Cup.

This year the long running Thursday ball/legs (Ladies of Enniskillen Golf Society) will be headed up by Sally Redman and Linda Mcdowell.
