Generous Gerwyn donates £910 to help support Marie Curie’s work
FAIR play to big-hearted Gerwyn
Balfour – his recent generous gesture will help make a difference locally.
Earlier this year, Gerwyn enjoyed a mid-january big seven-oh surprise birthday, organised by his four daughters.
Gerwyn selflessly decided to donate his birthday funds to a great cause – Marie Curie, a charity which needs no introduction locally, and he was on hand recently (right) to present the funds – a terrific £910 – to Ruth Jacks, from Fermanagh Friends of Marie Curie.
It’s a charity and a cause that’s close to his heart, and that of many in the community, and Ruth, on behalf of Marie Curie, offered him and all who helped raise the funds a very sincere thank-you.
I HEAR that the Fermanagh Genealogy Centre’s (FGC) most recent talk was another great success, with people tuning in from as far afield as Australia and Canada to watch.
Next up, and Fr. Brian D’arcy will be the group’s guest speaker this Saturday afternoon, April 20 at Fermanagh House, where
Frankie Roofe will be hosting Fr. Brian in an informal chat.
The always amenable and knowledgeable Fr. Brian will be happy to discuss growing up in his native Fermanagh, with everything from Showbands, football, the Church and much more set to pop up, in what’s certain to be an entertaining and engaging chat.
Doors open from 1.15pm, with proceedings starting at 2pm; everyone is welcome, with tea and refreshments to be served also.
There is a £5 charge for non-members, and the presentation is available live for FGC members on Zoom, via its website.
Come along for a great chat from Fr. Brian
