Man (21) accused of making indecent child images while a teenager

-

THE case of a Fermanagh man who is facing multiple charges relating to the alleged making and possessing of indecent child images has been transferred to the Crown Court.

Jason Brown (21) from Corratistune Road appeared at Enniskillen Magistrate’s Court on Monday, April 21.

Brown is accused of 25 charges comprising 15 counts of making indecent images of a child, four of possessing prohibited images of a child and three counts each of possessing extreme pornographic images and possessing indecent images.

Offending is alleged to have occurred on dates between April 2018 and June 2022, with some counts dating back over six years.

In court, a prosecutor read the charges before him, and Brown indicated he was aware of the charges. He also indicated he didn’t wish to say anything in answer to the charges.

When asked if he wished to tender a written statement of evidence, Brown replied: “No.”

A prosecutor told District Judge Alana Mcsorley that she believed “there is a case to answer”.

The District Judge, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, readmitted Brown on bail, and adjourned the case for the accused to appear at a sitting of Dungannon Crown Court in Newry on May 28.

Defence Barrister Steffan Rafferty described the case as “serious”. Seeking legal aid for Brown, Mr. Rafferty stated that he was “in employment”, and given his date of birth, the incidents “by and large” occurred “when he was a child”.
