‘Exceptional’ Chairperson recognised by nomination
ATIRELESS inspirational mum who has helped support families right across Fermanagh has been nominated for an award at this year’s Impartial Reporter Community Champion Awards.
Susan Doyle is the Chairperson of the Fermanagh Down
Syndrome Support Group and has been nominated for her “tireless efforts in providing a platform for individuals and families to come together and support each other”.
Ms. Doyle was surprised when she had a phone call on Monday afternoon from The Impartial Reporter informing her of her nomination.
When told the news, she replied: “Oh my gosh, I don’t know what to say!”
The person who nominated her wrote: “Susan’s inspiration and initiative to establish the support group stem from her own personal journey as a mother to an equally extraordinary son [Eoin, aged 12] with Down
Syndrome.
“Her selfless devotion to fundraising for activities and trips for families to enjoy quality time together is a testament to her unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of those with Down Syndrome and their loved ones.
“Susan’s exceptional leadership and compassionate nature make her a deserving nominee for this award.
“Her impact on the community is immeasurable, and her dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals with Down Syndrome is truly admirable.”
Her anonymous nominator continued: “It is my honour to nominate Susan Doyle for the Charity Champion Award, as she exemplifies the true meaning of selflessness, compassion, and dedication in her work within the Down Syndrome community in Fermanagh.”
Ms. Doyle, joined by Ashley Beacom, stepped in to prevent the Fermanagh Down Syndrome Support Group from folding, and has along with others been in the role of the committee for ten years.
