Rivers could be better

-

I know the river season has just opened but I’d like to make a plea on behalf of those who would spend more time on their banks if the water itself wasn’t choked with weed. Granted, that’s quite the case at the minute, but it won’t be long before you can cast a line and not have it pulled out of position or the bait hidden in the green stuff because the river authorities, or whoever is responsible, don’t keep on top of the problem. Too many rivers never see a weed-cutter and those that do receive infrequent visits. So I’d like to urge the Environment Agency, clubs, local drainage boards or whoever should be clearing the mess, to get out there and clean it up so that potential anglers have half a chance! I will, of course, take all of this back, if failing to cut weed in June has anything to do with creating and fostering growth that’s deemed to support and enhance spawning. Has anyone got any answers for this?
