Improve Your Coarse Fishing (UK)

Q How often do you recommend switching to a fresh hookbait and how often should I recast?

-

TOM MAKER: It depends on the lake that you are fishing and the stock in the water. When fishing for big carp, I will leave my baits in the water for over 24hours. If I am fishing on a ‘runs’ water I will recast regularly. I want to be getting bites and a fresh smell in the swim can often work. When fishing for bigger carp, I like my baits to have the appearance that they have already been out all day. I also don’t want to be constantly recasting on their heads, so leaving the rods out will entice the fish to come in and feed.
