Improve Your Coarse Fishing (UK)

Welcome from the Editor...

WELCOME to the latest issue of IYCF. Last month 30 anglers gathered at one of the country’s top commercial fisheries to battle it out for a prestigious honour. But we’re not talking about Fish O’Mania here, it was, of course, the annual Angling Times/Improve Your Coarse Fishing office pairs match! This battle of the titans was held on Beastie Lake at the Decoy Lakes complex just outside Peterborough and everyone caught plenty of fish. Even members of the team who’d never been fishing before caught and had a great time. Just what fishing should be about. The trophy was eventually taken by Angling Times’ Tony Grigorjevs and Nick Fletcher. While wandering around a local lake the other evening I noticed that it was almost dark by 8.30pm. Summer seems to have come and gone in the blink of an eye but, I’ll be honest, apart from a bit of floater fishing, I struggle to get really excited about my fishing during the height of summer. The approach of autumn usually sees an improvement with sport as fish tend to feed that little bit harder and species such as perch, chub and barbel are placed firmly back on the big-fish menu. I’ve found a little water that could hopefully hold some decent perch where I’m planning a few short evening sessions over the next few weeks. As always, I hope you enjoy this month’s issue and make sure you drop us a line either via email or social media to let us know how your month is going and whether you’ve caught on any of the tactics in this month’s issue.
