WELCOME to the latest issue of IYCF. This time of year always entails several days on the road visiting tackle manufacturers up and down the country and getting to have a look at the new gear they’ve got lined up for the following year. It’s always interesting to see the thought and innovation that has gone into many of these products and every year there is at least one item that is so simple that you are left wandering why no-one thought of it before. You’re instantly aware that it will make your life on the bank easier. It’s always refreshing the see the continuing innovation within the industry and the new methods and tactics that are then spawned from these products. Make sure you keep an eye on our tackle pages over the next couple of months as we will be detailing the best of these new tackle innovations. We seem to have reached that time of year again when everyone starts to increasingly turn their attention towards perch fishing, whether that’s using bright rubber lures on canals or fishing more traditional tactics such as worms and prawns on commercial fisheries. Judging by many of the questions we get emailed there are plenty of you out there who haven’t yet tried drop shotting but are keen to give it a go. So this month we’ve got you covered if you want to learn more about the tactic. On page 68 we look at the essentials that you need to get right, covering everything from rod length to lure type. And on page 78 we detail some of the best drop shot rods on the market.
