Hitting the clip correctly

This ties in with casting accuracy, but even when clipped up at the right distance using the line clip on your reel, things can still go wrong! You need roughly the right amount of power in the cast to prevent it hitting the clip too hard and springing the rig back towards you. To ensure that your rig ends up on the bottom roughly directly below where it enters the water, you need to hit the clip with your rod tip help high and then immediately lower it to ensure your feeder or lead sinks straight to the bottom. Make sure the rod is in the same position every time you hit the clip.
