Location, location, location

It may sound obvious, but you really can only catch what is in front of you. If you are fishing a match then you roll with the punches and don’t have a choice, but for pleasure anglers there are no such constraints, so don’t be afraid to move if you are clearly not on the fish. Watercraft plays a big part in this, and sometimes you have to go on gut feeling and previous experience if there are no obvious signs of anything showing when you arrive. But if you do then see them elsewhere on the lake, never be afraid to up-sticks and move.
