Careful plumbing is crucial when fishing with hard pellets and I always fish my rig at dead depth. This basically means that when I plumb up just a tiny bit of the bristle of the float is visible above the water and the hookbait is just touching bottom. This magnifies every indication on the float and bites on hard pellets aren’t those 100mph sail-aways you get on other tactics. Setting up your rig in this way enables me to spot both dips and lifts and I will lift the pole at every indication I see.
