By hand

At this time of year a pole line around 6m from the bank will start to produce fish later in the day and this will need priming with bait throughout the day. To gain that little-and-often rhythm that is important, feeding by hand is the only realistic approach. A lot of people feed this line by hand when they are holding the pole and fishing but this leads to inaccurate feeding. The pellets go everywhere because of a lack of concentration and that is a recipe for spreading the shoal all over the place and being plagued by line bites. I only feed this line when I have shipped the pole back and having nothing in my hands. It enbles me to group the feed tightly, which is key to success.
