IT'S ALWAYS MY BEST SEASON!

I can half understand why angling magazines such as yours are constantly urging us to use such-and-such tactic or bait to get our best catches ever, but it's the sort of hyperbole I can do without. I'm not being a miserable old you-know-what, but it's just that I occupy a wonderful part of the galaxy where I'm permanently enjoying my best ever season – whatever the catch, whatever the weather, I adore being outside with just the possibility of a spectacular catch, let alone an actual one, being enough to sustain my state of contentment. Yes, it's good fun using a new bit of kit or a new bait but the results are only the icing on the cake, assuming it works, of course. The important thing is the cake itself, the actual process of going fishing whether it be on the river, gravel pit, canal or commercial venue. Fishing for me is a relaxing pastime, not a blinding rush to catch the next fish before you've netted the one already on the hook! Good goodness sake, relax why don't you!
