Start prebaiting now! – Rob Thompson

Swing the bream odds in your favour by baiting up for a few days prior to your session, says Korum’s Rob Thompson

FISHING for bream is almost always a case of boom or bust. If you have a slice of luck at the beginning of a session and select a peg that is home to a giant shoal, then a red letter day is a near certainty. But there is no middle ground when slabs are the target and if you trip at the first hurdle by entering the ‘wrong’ swim, a blank is likely. Put simply, there is a huge element of luck to bream bagging if you merely turn up on the day and hope for the best. The big question, therefore, is how can you swing the odds firmly in your favour each session? Korum’s Rob Thompson believes a few days of preparation can ensure that every trip is a memorable affair. “When you only get one day a week to fish you want to put yourself in with the best chance of catching plenty, and prebaiting will do just that,” assured the Derbyshire-based specimen hunter. “People often prefer other types of fishing when they discover prebaiting is necessary because they have busy lives with other commitments, but spending just 10 minutes prebaiting for two or three days before the session will make a massive difference.”
