Plumb at least five different areas at each distance. This will give you a very good idea of the contours of the peg. Always feed little and often as opposed to dumping in large quantities at once. This will draw in a few fish at a time and reduce the number of line bites and foul-hookers you experience. Use a heavy plummet. This will help you work out the type of bottom you have in front of you. Set up one rig and keep adjusting the depth. This will almost certainly lead to confusion and setting the rig at the wrong depth for the spot you are fishing. Use a far bank marker that could move! Another angler on the far bank may seem ideal but they might pack up before you do. Line your rig up with something such as a tree or platform. Have too much float bristle showing. When fishing for F1s and skimmers, the slight indications are your signal to strike.
