Speed Stops

-

Speed Stops consist of a small, sharp, plastic spike stop that is pushed though the baits using a needle. The stop is tied on to a hair rig, and you can choose how long the hair is by simply picking the length and tying a knotless knot. These come into play with baits such as corn, meat or soft pellets. A very popular technique on commercials for carp is to fish popped-up bread on a hair rig. A Speed Stop is ideal for this as it pushes easily through discs of punched bread, with the stop itself holding the bread in place. Bread also makes a great hookbait with other presentations, such as the Method or Hybrid feeder, and yet is often overlooked. Its lightweight and fluffy nature means it’s easily sucked in by a feeding fish. The main advantage of using Speed Stops is that you can quickly and easily hair-rig baits. Place the Speed Stop Needle in the top of the Speed Stop, and push it spike-first through the bait until it pops out the other side and flattens out beneath the bait to hold it securely in place.
