Improve Your Coarse Fishing (UK)

SEATBOX SETUP EXPLAINED

ELASTIC is a vital part of pole fishing. Visit your local tackle shop and you will notice dozens of different types on offer. My favourites are Preston Innovations Dura Hollo and Hollo and this month I show you how to elasticate a top kit.

1

Take your length of elastic and thread the bottom of a stonfo connector on to it before tying on the top of it. Connect the two parts together.

2

Taking the opposite end of the elastic to where the connector has been tied, attach a diamond eye to it. Thread the elastic through the thin end of your top kit and, once it gets to the half-way point, pull it through the first section. It is then a case of threading it through the next section of the top kit until it comes out of the bottom end.

3

Disconnect the diamond eye and thread the diamond end through the Side Pulla. Continue pushing until it comes out of the bottom end of your pole

4

Reconnect the elastic to the diamond eye threader. Most of the threader will be sticking out of the Side Pulla – yank this so that it brings the threader back through the pole.

5

The threader will then pop out of the Side Pulla, bringing the elastic with it. Disconnect the diamond eye and pull the elastic until it brings through all the surplus that was sat behind the Side Pulla.

6

Slide a small bead on to the elastic and then tie a knot above this. The bead is in place to enable you to tension the elastic each time you are fishing so make sure it can only move on the elastic when you apply pressure.
