WELCOME to the latest issue of IYCF. If you were asked to name a legend of our sport I reckon it would be a safe bet that the vast majority of you would mention Bob Nudd. With his trademark white cap he is one of the most instantly recognisable anglers around and with four individual World Championship gold medals to his name he is also one of the most successful. He is also the only angler to ever come close to winning the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award. So while Tony, Tom and myself were sat in a planning meeting sorting the upcoming months’ issues we realised it had been far too long since the mighty Nudd had featured in the pages of IYCF. When arranging a feature with an angler as knowledgeable as Bob, deciding on a topic to cover is always tricky. Whenever we transition from one season to another we get loads of questions from readers asking how their approach should change. The autumn period in particular proves problematic for many. Temperatures are dropping and daylight hours drastically reduce, but there’s still every chance we’ll get the odd mild day thrown into the mix. How much should you feed? What type of bait should you use? Where will the fish be? Do you need to scale down your tackle? So, we thought who better to answer all of these commonly asked questions than Bob. As you’d expect, his advice is invaluable and if you employ the simple changes he suggests on page 24 then there is no reason that you should see a dip in your results as we head ever closer to winter. See you next month.
