Homemade floats

Make watching a float tip even more enjoyable with these works of art

-

IF YOU are looking to improve your float fishing game and stand part from everyone else on the bank then it’s time to treat yourself to a set of handmade floats. Chris Reeve of Oxford Handmade Fishing started making his own floats a few years ago and each one of his products is carefully crafted from natural materials such as porcupine quill, pheasant and goose quill, champagne corks and balsa wood. Prices start from £11 or you can treat yourself to a wooden presentation box set which comes with a selection of 10 floats for £125. “The floats I make take a lot of care and attention,” he told IYCF. “They are a real labour of love and although they are made to be cherished I always insist on one thing – I make the floats to be used. As a passionate float angler I’m of the opinion that if you’re going to spend hours staring at your float during a session, then you may as well look at something beautiful that has been handcrafted,” he added. From a cork to a fishing float– Chris’ products are all carefully crafted
