TWEAK THE LIFT METHOD
KEV ELLIOTT, DERBYSHIRE
I read article by Scott Rispin in the Nov-Dec issue the, about catching bream on the lift method. I had the same problem on my club water 25 years ago and went through a similar thought process. I arrived at a slightly different solution, though. Perhaps you could pass a message to tell him to replace the No.8 shot with a 0.5g sliding olivette. This needs a No.12 Stotz just above the hooklength to stop it sliding down to the hook. This way the float goes under with slightest movement of the bait. This is also a brilliant method for fishing for carp at the bottom of slopes. It keeps the line on the deck, therefore the carp cannot swim into the line and spook.
