Improve Your Coarse Fishing (UK)

Welcome...

- James Furness, Editor

THANKS for purchasing this issue of IYCF. Does what you fish for change as the year progresses? I have to admit, that in the past I was guilty of only fishing for carp, no matter what season it was. When I first started fishing I would happily spend the day fishing the float for whatever came along but once I caught the big- carp bug that was pretty much the only type of fishing I did for about 10 years or so.

Nowadays, though, I would much rather spend the winter months fishing for species such as perch and chub than sitting in the freezing cold behind silent bite alarms hoping that a carp might decide to briefly come out of its winter slumber and have a feed. In the coming weeks I’ll be dusting off my jig fishing kit and I can’t wait to spend my lunch hours trying to catch a couple of perch. My local lake also has a big head of silvers which are great fun to catch on the float for a few hours at weekends.

There’s so many different angling opportunities available to us, whether that be different species to target or types of venue to fish, it seems a shame to put all your eggs in one basket.

Indeed, it is this variety which is one of the things I enjoy most about putting this magazine together every month.

In this issue we’ve covered pretty much everything a coarse angler would need at this time of year. From bagging up on silvers in rivers to targeting 2lb roach in carp waters, fishing the float for chub and lure fishing for perch, you’ll find it all in the following pages.

I hope you enjoy the issue and feel free to get in touch with us and let us know how your autumn fishing campaign is progressing.

It’s always great to hear from the readers, especially if you’ve caught using one of the tactics detailed in the magazine.
