Improve Your Coarse Fishing (UK)

Welcome...

- James Furness, Editor

THANKS for purchasing this issue of IYCF.

Depending on when you bought it, it will either be your final issue of 2019 or your first of 2020. Either way, it seems an ideal time to look back over the last 12 months. Did you set yourselves any angling targets in 2019, and if so, did you achieve them?

My angling year didn’t involve any new personal bests or notable specimen- sized fish, but I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the limited time I have to spend on the bank.

My favourite sessions of the year were undoubtedly after work evening trips to the lake in my village with my son Toby in the summer. We’d always catch a few carp; nothing massive, I think the biggest we had was a mid- double, but it was good fun. We’d stripped the kit back to the bare minimum so we could have the rods out and be fishing within minutes of arriving at the venue.

Watching how much Toby enjoyed learning about the different types of carp and how he was amazed at the size of an 8lb carp really made me remember my own childhood fishing trips.

My other angling highlight would have to be the Angling Times/ IYCF office match. It’s always a fun day out with plenty of laughs from everyone involved.

I hope you all had a good 2019 too and that you achieve whatever targets you set for 2020.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support over the last year which has helped to ensure that IYCF remains the country’s best- selling angling monthly magazine. If you want to ensure you never miss an issue check out this month’s subscription offer on page 20.

I hope you all have an amazing Christmas and a happy New Year.
