Academic record: Another record-breaking year, bucking the national trend! With a 14.3% increase in the number of Grade 9s achieved, 40.7% of all grades achieved were grades 9 to 7, almost double the national average. Our grade 9 to 4 level was also up 6% to 94.7%, nearly 30% more than the national average. Extra-curricular: 175 activities and GCSE “Raising Attainment” sessions a week, Ballard’s co-curricular programme is designed to give pupils of all ages a breadth of opportunit­ies, from Archaeolog­y to Ultimate Frisbee! Whatever their individual strengths or curiositie­s, there is something for everyone.

Notable achievemen­ts and alumni: This year, Ballard was a finalist for the Independen­t School of the Year for Sports award (ISOTY) and Highly Commended for Performing Arts (ISA). Last year, it was a finalist for the Excellence and Innovation in Art and Design (ISA); Highly Commended for

Sport (ISA); a finalist for Performing Arts (ISOTY); and shortliste­d for the Co-Educationa­l Independen­t School of the Year award for the third year in a row. As well as team success, individual pupils have succeeded in Sport and the Performing Arts to a high level and our alumni include world champions, Olympic medallists and four Paris Olympians as well as an internatio­nal opera star, pop bands and a harpist who plays for the Royal Family.
