The Barlow family at war!

THERE ARE TERRIBLE REPERCUSSIONS AS THE FAMILY GOES TO WAR…

- Sarah Ellis

There’s explosive drama on the cobbles this week,

as tensions within the Barlow clan escalate out of control – with shocking consequences for the entire family!

Relations between Ken and his brood have hit an all-time low in recent weeks,

to the point where members of the clan are barely speaking to one another – and when they do, it usually ends in an almighty argument. As the Barlow patriarch, it’s Ken’s job to bring his loved ones together when times get tough. But that’s a lot easier said than done when he can’t even bear to look at them…

“It’s amazing the difference a few months can make,”

muses our Weatherfield insider. “As 2017 got under way, it looked as though the Barlows were stronger than ever with Peter, Daniel and Adam back in the fold – but now the family are falling apart at the seams! You wouldn’t blame Ken if he decided to disown his troublesome offspring for good.”

The poorly pensioner is at the end of his tether as his family bickers

– and with more frustrations bubbling to the surface, there’s no chance of them resolving their differences any time soon. But with tempers flaring and each member of the clan feeling aggrieved, could one of them do something unforgiveable?

And will the Barlows ever be the same again after the events of this action-packed week?

LIKE MOTHER, LIKE DAUGHTER

For once, toxic Tracy isn’t Ken’s biggest problem – but that in itself is causing huge issues! We all know that Tracy likes to be the centre of attention, and she’s spent years being the sole heir to the Barlow throne. So with her brothers Peter and Daniel back on the scene, and Ken focusing all of his attention on them, it’s no wonder that Tracy is feeling a little put out by the turn of events!

“Ken has always treated Tracy as if she were his own flesh and blood – but that doesn’t stop her accusing him of putting his real kids before her,” mutters our mole. “She’s massively put out that she and Amy aren’t the centre of Ken’s universe any more, and in true Tracy style, she tells him as much! However, Ken has real problems to deal with right now, and no time for Tracy’s tantrums.”

But perhaps Tracy should be spending less time feeling hard done by and more time concentrating on her teenage daughter. Because while her mother has thrown a strop about the way Ken’s been treating her, Amy’s been sneaking around, sending texts to a mystery person and leaving out money for them in the Barlows’ living room! So just what is the sneaky little madam up to? And is it set to land her in a whole heap of trouble?

BOOZY BARLOW

Meanwhile, Peter remains absolutely furious with his dad after Ken recently told Toyah that his son had been having an affair with another woman!

Thanks to his dad’s meddling, Peter’s relationship is now in tatters, and Toyah thinks that he’s not only cheated on her with Chloe, but is also back on the booze! It’s no wonder Peter is gunning for Ken…

“Boozing and cheating is standard practice for Peter – but for once he’s done nothing wrong,” sighs our spy. “Given his past actions, though, you can’t blame Toyah for believing that he’s been sleeping with Chloe. You’d have to admit the evidence is compelling.”

After accusing his dad of ruining his life, Peter then begs Chloe to put the record straight – but given her fixation with him, we doubt she’ll be willing to play ball. And when Peter spots Toyah getting into a car with her estranged husband Toby, it’s enough to send him straight to the Rovers, where he grabs a bottle of whisky and absconds back to his flat!

So, can Peter pull himself together in time – or will the dramatic events engulfing the Barlows prompt him to turn back to the demon drink?

BABY DRAMA

The rest of the family may be at war, but poor Daniel is grief-stricken following the news that Sinead has lost their baby. After she tells him that she’s suffered a miscarriage, Daniel is devastated, and can’t help but blame himself for putting his girlfriend under too much stress.

Is it really all down to him, though?

“Let’s not forget that Ken was totally against them having this baby from the start,” our snoop reminds us. “He was putting pressure on them to terminate the pregnancy, so now that the baby is gone, he feels an enormous degree of guilt. While Ken does think it’s better for Daniel in the long run if he’s not shackled to Sinead, he can see just how distraught his son is about this loss.”

Of course, Sinead also factors into the drama as she struggles to come to terms with events. Will she end up blaming Ken for the loss of her unborn child?

PHELAN STRIKES AGAIN

It’s not just the Barlow family who are causing Ken headaches this week, though – he has a run-in with wicked builder Phelan that he could well live to regret!

At the end of his tether with his relatives, Ken vents his anger on Pat for taking so long to install the Barlows’ new kitchen. And as he reminds the builder that most people on the Street wouldn’t give him the time of day, Phelan quietly seethes…

“As viewers know, Phelan is not a man to get on the wrong side of!” warns our snitch. “He has a pretty short temper – and when he snaps, you know all about it! Ken could just have made himself a dangerous new enemy by crossing Phelan.”

So, could Ken and his clan be in serious danger if Phelan decides to take his anger out on one of them? We all know what he is capable of when he’s pushed to his limits – so might nasty Phelan be set to teach Ken a lesson that he won’t forget?
