Aaron returns home from jail

REBECCA COULD DESTROY THEIR RELATIONSHIP…

- Kate White

Jailbird Aaron is finally released from prison this week – but he could be in for a nasty shock from partner Robert.

He’s been counting down the days till he could go home to his loved ones, but what Aaron doesn’t know is that Robert has broken their vows already. He made the mistake of sleeping with former lover Rebecca after a row with Aaron about the drugs he was abusing in jail – so now the boys have much bigger problems…

THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE

“Robert only has one goal in life – keeping Rebecca quiet,” shares our Dales snoop. “He knows he did something bad, and that it’s something Aaron couldn’t forgive. As far as Robert is concerned, it was a stupid lapse of judgement – all he has to do is convince Rebecca to toe the line as well.”

Robert blames his actions on the huge pressure he was under while Aaron served his sentence. As well as having to cope with Liv and her antics, he found out that the man he loves was spiralling into drug addiction. Of course, he could have rung a mate to talk it over, but that’s not Robert’s style. His answer was to sink a bottle of booze and take a woman he knows is in love with him to bed.

One thing Robert has going for him, however, is that Aaron is too busy worrying about his own errors to be looking for other people’s. And after he returns to the village, a welcome home party has him fleeing from the Woolpack in a total panic.

COMING CLEAN

Poor Aaron is also mortified that Robert and Liv know about his drug use inside, and he wants to explain what prompted him to do it. But that means confiding in Robert about

the full horror of his treatment at the hands of scary inmate Jason. “Aaron’s been hiding the abuse he suffered for two reasons,” says our mole. “Firstly, he’s a victim of abuse as a child, so keeping quiet about being hurt feels almost ‘normal’ to Aaron. He was also worried that telling Robert would have provoked him into making a big fuss to the wardens and getting him a reputation as a grass. And Aaron had hoped to spare Robert the really horrible details.”

It takes all of Aaron’s courage to sit down with Robert and explain the beatings he took and why he turned to drugs. And by the end of their chat, Robert feels even worse about betraying Aaron.

Will he be able to appeal to Rebecca, and make her understand that Aaron can’t cope with the truth?
