Gullible Bethany has come to believe her relationship with Nathan is the stuff dreams are made of – but this week her illusion is shattered when she finds out her fella has a romantic history with his employee Mel!
There’s no hiding the fact that the pair are more than just co-workers, and Mel once claimed that Nathan saved her life when things at home got rough. However, upon Nathan’s suggestion that she should record a new vlog, Bethany gets a nasty shock when she comes across a photo of Mel and Nathan kissing on her love rival’s laptop…
“Mel has previously told Bethany that nothing ever happened between her and Nathan, so when she sees the photo, she’s annoyed and upset,” explains Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany. “She confronts Mel and Nathan, but Nathan turns it around and says, ‘Did you expect me to be a virgin when we met?’. He makes her feel childish and she storms out.”
After the falling-out, things turn nasty at the salon when Nathan gives Mel hell for winding up young Bethany. Meanwhile, the teen returns to the cobbles hoping for a little sympathy from mum Sarah – but of course, Bethany’s bustup with her older boyfriend is music to Sarah’s ears!
“Bethany tries to get some advice from her mother, but Sarah doesn’t say much,” reveals Lucy. “I think she’s being careful because she doesn’t want to push Bethany, and hopes she’ll decide to call things off herself. But later Sarah tells Gary how glad she is that Bethany’s not with that creep any more, and Bethany overhears this and gets really defensive. She’s determined to get back with him.”

be getting caught up in. She had her own experience of a predatory older man as a teenager, and has shared all the details of her ordeal with her daughter. Has the terrifying tale really failed to strike a chord with Bethany?
“It made her think, but as far as she’s concerned, Nathan isn’t like that,” sighs Lucy. “He’s so charming and supportive, and gives her a lot of time and attention. Bethany thinks he treats her as a woman. That’s what she’s always wanted, but she’s really still a child and has been brainwashed by him. She does want to be with Nathan, but she’s very confused.”
With Bethany remaining oblivious to Nathan’s evil manipulation of her, will his romantic history with Mel be forgiven and forgotten? Or will Sarah put her foot down and end this romance once and for all?
