Max and Carmel are to join forces…

When Max Branning returned to Walford seemingly a changed man, we were quietly confident that no matter how reformed he claimed to be, he’d still have an eye for the ladies!

And it looks as if Albert Square’s chief womaniser will set his sights on one siren in particular, when he makes a new friend in Carmel. But is the fella’s interest in her for business, pleasure – or both?

“Max happens to notice that Carmel is going through a hard time, so he invites her out for a drink with him,” reveals our Eastenders insider. “She’s fallen out with Kush and Denise after discovering their fling, and Stacey’s still refusing to let her see young Arthur. Carmel could really do with a friendly ear, and Max is only too willing to oblige.”

As lucky as Max would be to have lovely Carmel on his arm, we can’t help but be a little suspicious of his motives! The shifty bloke is currently cooking up a scheme with property development firm Weyland & Co to bring the Square’s community to its knees – and could use his new bond with market inspector Carmel to progress his plan.

“Carmel’s connections with the local council could be just the opportunity Max has been hoping for,” reckons our spy. “What better way to destroy the Square than from the inside, with Carmel as his unwitting accomplice!”

As the pair spend more and more time together, their new friendship doesn’t go unnoticed by concerned Kush. However, his mum is certainly no fool, so it will be interesting to see how this new alliance with Max pans out…
