Bethany engaged to Nathan?

Nathan has to think fast to stop Bethany from slipping out of his grasp this week – so he presents her with an engagement ring!
Bethany is reeling after her encounter with Nathan’s creepy friend Neil, and as Nathan thanks her for being so nice to his pal, the lass is more conflicted than ever. But when she pays Sarah a visit – hoping her mum might offer her a way out – Nathan begins to worry, and realises that it’s going to take a grand gesture to get Bethany back where he wants her…
“Bethany is so confused at this point,” admits actress Lucy Fallon, who plays her. “She obviously didn’t want what happened with Neil to happen, and now she’s in the headspace where she can’t make out what’s going on at all. But when Nathan proposes to her, it makes her think that he must really love her.”
MOTHER KNOWS BEST?
It’s obvious that Nathan is playing a clever game with Bethany, and knows exactly the right things to say to keep her under his spell. However, he will have to do a lot of work if he’s to get Bethany back onside following her night with Neil.
Still reeling from the fact that Nathan didn’t save her from the sordid situation, upset Bethany gives her man the cold shoulder and heads to her mum’s house. She’s hoping Sarah might have a way out of the whole mess – but unfortunately Sarah has decided to take a different tack. Will Bethany reveal what happened?
“She goes home because she wants Sarah to be a strict mum, but Sarah follows Gary’s advice and is deliberately cool,” says Lucy. “So Bethany reckons her mum isn’t bothered about her any more.”
Feeling lost and unwanted by her family, Bethany ends up finding an unlikely ally in Mary, who offers her a friendly ear when the lass drops in at the flower shop.
However, Nathan is in hot pursuit, desperate to get Bethany away from her clan and back under his control. And as he turns on the charm, Bethany is putty in his hands…
DECLARATION OF LOVE
“From the point where Bethany sleeps with Neil, she questions why Nathan would let that happen,” sighs Lucy. “She says to him, ‘You’re supposed to love me, why would you be okay with me sleeping with someone else?’. He just tells her that it makes her more desirable.”
After persuading Bethany to return, sneaky Nathan then gets Mel to show her an engagement ring in a bid to prove that he loves her. Bethany feels terrible for doubting her man’s feelings for her – but when he gets down on one knee, will the teenager accept his proposal?
“It makes Bethany think everything is back to normal, and she forgets about what’s happened,” explains Lucy. “The proposal resets how she feels about Nathan.”
It’s clear that Bethany is in danger as long as she is under Nathan’s roof. Worse still, Sarah calls round to let her daughter know that, while she doesn’t approve of her choice of boyfriend, she will stand by her – whatever she decides to do with her life.
But as Neil rocks up and suggests that Nathan throw another party, will Bethany realise she won’t be forsaking all others if she’s going to keep Nathan happy?
