There are big problems for Denise this week, as her financial woes reach crisis point.
Since being fired from the Minute Mart after criticising her employer in the local paper, Denise has been finding it hard to make ends meet. While her sister Kim lives in the lap of luxury courtesy of rich hubby Vincent, Denise is running out of money fast – but she’s too proud to open up to those who love her, leading to some heartbreaking situations…
Denise’s lover Kush is the one who first suffers thanks to his partner’s problems. He’s not aware of how precarious her situation is, nor that his desperate partner is searching for a job that will simply put food on the table. Instead, Kush feels neglected by Denise, who uses her interview preparation and GCSE revision as an excuse to steer clear of difficult questions.
“They’ve only just got together, and Denise doesn’t want Kush to find out she’s in such a mess,” says our Walford snitch. “She’s spent so long dealing with her problems alone that Denise finds it hard to open up. She won’t be a charity case, no matter how good someone’s intentions are.”
Thanks to Denise’s aloof behaviour, Kush cancels a date he’s planned so that she can revise, and instead has dinner with his mum. Fed-up Denise then has a row with
Kim as well – and ends up home alone for another night. Worse still, her cupboard is almost bare and she’s forced to get by with a budget mealfor-one as her oblivious loved ones dine in style. And it’s all about to get even worse…
“Denise reaches the stage where she can’t even afford the cheapest food,” sighs our informant. “She ends up asking Kim to repay some money she lent to her last year, and then cancels her plans to go on holiday with the Fox-hubbard family. Even
Kim realises something is up and gets a bit worried by this point – she begs Kush to find out what on earth is going on with Denise.”
Despite Denise painting on a smile and attending a job interview, it’s clear that she needs help in the short term. As concerned Kush begs her to open up and be honest about what is worrying her, can proud Denise ignore her own embarrassment and find the courage to speak out?
