There’s a huge shock for the sleuthing Webster sisters this week – when mum Sally unwittingly invites her online troll to stay with them!
Rosie and Sophie did the detective work that led them to young woman Leah. The girls soon realised that she had a dangerously close connection to them – after it transpired that Leah’s stepmum was none other than Gina, Sally’s sister! Will Rosie and Sophie reveal the truth to their vulnerable mum?
At the start of the week,
Sally is shocked when Gina turns up and starts rambling about how sorry she is. Sally is so stunned to see her sibling in such a terrible state that she doesn’t even connect Gina’s apology to the abuse she’s been getting online – and before Sal’s sister can tell the full story, Leah arrives and drags Gina away.
Later, Sally tries to find them at the address she has for Gina, but learns they’ve moved on – so she starts a mission to track them down.
“If you recall, the Seddon family have always had a bit of a bad reputation,” reveals our Weatherfield insider. “That’s why Hilda Ogden was so sniffy about Sally when Kevin brought her home all those years ago. Sally has worked hard to climb the social ladder, and she hasn’t had much to do with her sister in a long time. But she’s still horrified to see the state that Gina is in.”
When Sally and Tim do find the house Gina is staying at, they are taken aback to see how bad things are. As Leah explains that Gina has bipolar, it becomes obvious that this is a family falling apart and in dire need of help. Sally immediately offers both Gina and Leah a place to stay on the cobbles – but after they come home, Rosie and Sophie can’t believe it. Surely they have to reveal the true identity of Sally’s troll before she gets too attached?
“There are two sides to this – it’s a big dilemma,” muses our source. “Sally’s troll has made her life a misery, and she needs to be protected from more harm at all costs. Anyone can see that. But Gina has mental health problems, that’s clear now, and her family can help. Charity begins at home, so Sally is doing the right thing by her sister. But Sophie and Rosie knows it’s a huge risk.”
Meanwhile, Gina gets settled under Sally’s roof, and her sibling even goes to her boss Aidan to get her a job. It’s a huge step for Sally to vouch for Gina and put her career on the line if it doesn’t work out – so what will happen as Gina and Leah try to make Coronation Street their home?
