Jack faces a fight for Matthew

JACK AND CHARLIE FACE THE FUTURE…

- Kate White

Tensions continue to build between little Matthew’s two dads this week – as Dot attempts to broker a truce between Jack and Charlie.

The wrangling over the tot’s future is turning nasty, with Charlie determined to exercise his paternal rights and take young Matthew from Ronnie’s widower. So, worried about the stress on all concerned, Dot asks Max to help her get the two men in the same room.

Given that he’s been busy stirring the pot to cause friction between his brother and Charlie, Max is happy to force a confrontation. But when Dot suggests that he leave the room – so she can mediate between Charlie and Jack – the fella is frustrated at losing this chance to cause more resentment.

It’s understandable that

Jack can’t bear the thought of losing toddler Matthew. Not only does he love the boy as if he was his own, he is Jack’s last link to his beloved Ronnie. But as Matthew’s biological father, Charlie is well within his rights to demand his son back – and is futher motivated by the fury he feels after being blackmailed by Ronnie to stay away.

Dot hopes she can make them all see that Matthew’s needs matter most, and that they can work together to give him the best life possible. However, as talks commence, it’s clear that Dot has a difficult job on her hands if she wants them to reach an agreement.

Meanwhile, as scheming Max continues to take his revenge on the Square, it becomes obvious that he’s detemined to force Jack out of Walford. How will the battle for Matthew affect Jack’s next move?
