The Platts discover Bethany’s hell
CAN SHONA AND THE PLATTS RESCUE HER FROM NATHAN’S CLUTCHES?
Bethany’s harrowing ordeal hurtles towards a dramatic showdown this week, as her horrified family finally see Nathan’s true colours.
The penny drops after
Shona finds out that Bethany’s fiancé is the same Nathan who once tried to draw her into the murky world where Sarah’s daughter finds herself trapped. But even as Shona relays the vital information to Bethany’s loved ones, Nathan has struck a deal to pimp her out to more of his friends…
“Nathan directs Bethany towards a room with three of his mates, and it looks like she is going to be raped,” explains actress Lucy Fallon, who plays the teen. “She’s drugged and confused – but she knows that she doesn’t want to sleep with these men.”
At the start of the week, Nathan is meticulously planning another one of his seedy parties so that his evil associates can prey on Bethany. She’s dreading the occasion, having already been forced into sex with his pals Neil and Ian – but Nathan’s twisted coercion works to keep Bethany right where he wants her.
“After Bethany slept with Neil, she felt that something was massively wrong – but Nathan persuaded her that it was the right thing to do,” Lucy reminds us. “However, when he proposed to her, it changed how she felt, and convinced Bethany that Nathan really loved her. She thinks that this is what being in a relationship is all about.”
Back on the cobbles, Shona is helping out David in the salon when Craig happens to mention that he’s not keen on Bethany’s fella, Nathan, who runs a tanning salon. That’s when horrified Shona puts two and two together, and realises exactly who Craig is talking about.
With that,
Shona heads
straight round to see Nathan and demand that he stay away from Bethany, ahead of calling the police. Her bravery has horrendous consequences, though, after Nathan orders two thugs to follow Shona and beat the living daylights out of her! And as Shona lies bloodied and beaten in an alleyway, Nathan is free to put his sinister plan into action.
“Nathan removes Bethany’s engagement ring, telling her that they don’t want to make any of the other party guests jealous,” reveals Lucy. “She’s really thrown by that, but she still goes ahead with whatever Nathan tells her to do. He’s so manipulative.”
Meanwhile, Craig begins to worry about missing Shona, and soon tracks her down to the site of her attack. The injured woman is taken to hospital – but does a runner and heads back to the Street to tell David everything she knows about Nathan and Bethany.

However, as Nathan accepts cash from the dodgy men who have their eyes on Bethany, her loved ones face a race against time to save her.
“Bethany knows full well what Nathan expects of her,” sighs Lucy. “The next thing she knows, she’s in a room with three men and she’s shouting for Mel. It’s the first time that Bethany really starts to think, ‘Why are Nathan and Mel letting this happen to me?’”
With Bethany in horrendous danger, David, Sarah, Gary and Shona hurry round to Nathan’s salon and kick in the door before heading upstairs. Will they get there in time to rescue Bethany – or is it already too late to save her?
