TODD AND BILLY REACH OUT TO DREW’S HEARTBROKEN ORPHAN…
“Todd has come full circle where Summer is concerned”
CORONATION STREET | ITV THURSDAY When Todd and Billy arrive at the church for the funeral service, the vicar warns the pair that Drew’s parents have banned them from attending. While Billy wonders if they should respect their wishes, Todd is resolved that they will be there for Summer. It’s a heartbreaking moment when the little girl bravely stands up to deliver the eulogy. She’s soon consumed with emotion, though, prompting Billy to step up to support her.
“Todd has told Billy they must go in and take a stand

for what they believe in,” says Bruno. “Drew made it clear that he wanted Billy to have a relationship with Summer. Todd has a dark side, but anyone hearing a little girl stand up and deliver a eulogy about her father is bound to feel torn apart. Witnessing Matilda [Freeman, who plays Summer] do the scene made me very proud of her, and Todd feels the same way about Summer.”
Despite this moment, and Billy rushing to Summer’s side, the boys are sad when the lass says she doesn’t want to live with them. As a result of the hatred coming from her grandparents, her feelings are conflicted – but Todd and Billy are desperate to be parents to her.
REPRESENT ME
While all the funeral stuff is going on, Todd discovers that
Adam Barlow is back, has set up the legal practice they discussed, and has put Todd on his business card – forcing Todd to step up and take the role. But imagine his surprise when he discovers that Summer is their first client.
“It’s a shock, but all
Todd wants to do is chat to Summer, and to make her realise that he and Billy are the best people to have her,” shares Bruno. “He doesn’t trust Adam at all, but if he and Billy are going to raise a child and have their own place, Todd really needs a job. He’s a pragmatist, and knows that he can make money with Adam – but he’s determined to not let anything bad happen to Summer.”
