LIFE BEHIND BARS: VISITING HOUR | Channel 4 9PM

Visiting hour gives prisoners a short window of time in which to reconnect with people in the outside world – but how do they spend those 60 minutes?

This documentary observes the happenings in the visiting room of HMP Low Moss in Scotland, eavesdropping on the conversations as well as interviewing inmates, their visitors and prison staff about the experience. Visitors share their stories of feeling nervous and intimidated the first time they go in, while the staff note the topics of conversation that they notice the most often – with the terrible quality of the food being regularly mentioned.

We’ll also hear from Gary and Charley, who are busily planning their wedding, even though Gary is yet to receive a release date.
