The rumours have been doing the rounds for a while, but now Inside Soap can confirm the news that Adam Thomas, aka Adam Barton, is leaving Emmerdale. The 28-year-old star – who came

third in the most recent series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! – has announced that he’ll be departing the soap early next year.

“I’ve had an amazing eight years working on Emmerdale, and loved every minute,” says Adam. “It was a tough decision to leave, but I feel that now is the time to move on and challenge myself with new roles.”

“Adam has given us plenty of notice, so we’ve been able to prepare a huge exit story for him,” adds Dales boss Iain Macleod. “I’m really excited to see it play out on screen, however sad it will be to bid farewell to a brilliant character and cast member.

He’s a top bloke.”
