Chesney is stabbed!

- Robert defends himself – but he isn’t the one who gets hurt

CHESNEY IS LEFT FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE AFTER ROBERT AND RICH FACE OFF IN A VIOLENT SHOWDOWN…

Chesney is left seriously injured this week – after he’s caught in the crossfire as a violent scene breaks out between Robert and his drug dealer ex-pal Rich.

Disaster strikes when crazed Rich smashes a wine bottle and threatens Robert with it. As the villain spins around, innocent Chesney walks through the door, and is slashed with the lethal weapon…

“Chesney is in the wrong place at the wrong time,” sighs Sam Aston, who plays him. “He goes to the Bistro to speak to Daniel and clear the air about Sinead – nothing confrontational, he just wants to make sure there are no hard feelings. But as he enters with all of his good intentions, he’s caught up in Robert and Rich’s fight.”

HERO OF THE HOUR!

Prior to these shocking scenes, former couple Chesney and Sinead decide to get back together after her split from Daniel. Determined to get his renewed relationship off to the right start, Ches wants to make peace with Daniel, with whom he has clashed countless times.

“Chesney worships the ground Sinead walks on – he still loves her,” shares Sam. “She’s quirky and honest, and they’re a good match. Obviously they’ve had their problems recently, but Chesney still wants to make it work between them.

“But he still has it in his mind that Sinead likes Daniel. Chesney has been trying to be more like Daniel to impress Sinead – he knows that Daniel has loads of literature and academic books, so he thinks this is what Sinead likes.

He’s trying so hard, bless him – but sometimes it’s a bit too much!”

Ironically, it’s Daniel who ends up coming to stabbed Chesney’s rescue after he collapses. As soon as Rich realises the terrible thing he’s done, he drops the bottle and makes a run for it – and Bistro worker Daniel is the first to rush to Ches’ side.

He desperately tries to stop the bleeding while waiting for an ambulance to arrive, and keeps on talking to shell-shocked Chesney in a bid to keep him conscious.

“Daniel shows that he is a decent person, even after everything that he and Chesney have been through,” says Sam. “He sees Ches in this terrible state and comes to his aid. They are really nice scenes, actually. It’s good that Chesney and Daniel aren’t hissing in each other’s faces for once!”

SINEAD’S SORROW

Unfortunately, this touching moment is misinterpreted when

Sinead arrives on the scene. Seeing Daniel cradling bloodied Chesney in his arms, Sinead jumps to the conclusion that her ex has attacked him. Daniel is of course devastated that she could think such a thing, but it’s at that moment that paramedics come rushing in, and Chesney is taken away in an ambulance.

As Ches battles for survival in hospital with Sinead at his bedside, Sam hopes his loved-up alter ego can pull through – since he’s just as delighted as Ches that Sinead is back in his life…

“When Sinead and Chesney broke up, it was really weird for me – like the end of an era,” he admits. “I get on very well with Katie [Mcglynn], who plays Sinead, and she’s great fun to be around. We have a laugh and we’re comfortable with one another, so it was strange to not work together so much.

“As for Daniel, I couldn’t see Ches and him sat in the Rovers having a pint together and being best buds or anything,” adds Sam. “But if Chesney does manage to recover, it would be nice if he and Daniel could start seeing eye to eye in the future.”

And the star says it was cool to film these dramatic scenes.

“It was great fun! I’ve been here a while, but never done anything like this before…”
