Love could be set to blossom on the ward for Dom this week, when he boldly moves in for a kiss with Lofty! The pair have formed a close bond since the former ED nurse transferred upstairs to Keller, but it’s only after Dom learns that Lofty might be gay that he begins to question his feelings for him…
“After the horror of his abusive relationship with Isaac, Dom deserves some happiness,” shares our Holby insider. “He’s been to hell and back in recent months, so it takes a lot of courage to tell Lofty that he likes him.”
Viewers know that Lofty is a little cagey about his private life – having only recently admitted to Sacha that he couldn’t go through with his wedding to Alice because he was secretly in love with her brother! It was the first time he’d said the words out loud when he spoke to the kind-hearted consultant, trusting that their conversation would not go any further.
However, after Dom spots Lofty hilariously trying to avoid a female colleague in the hospital car park, he jumps to conclusions. As Sacha tries to defend Lofty, he accidentally blurts out the fact that he might be attracted to fellas – leaving Dom to curse his gaydar for not having spotted it sooner!
“It’s as if a light bulb goes off in Dom’s head, and he suddenly starts to look at Lofty differently,” explains our mole. “It also doesn’t help that Dom’s mother
Carol is being treated on the ward, and is planting all sorts of ideas in his head!”
Dom could also argue that he’s receiving mixed messsages from Lofty, who grabs his colleague’s bottom at one point and implies that they’re romatically involved – simply to throw his lady admirer off the scent. With that, Dom thinks he’s been given the green light when he later sits down with Lofty for a candid chat – and stuns him with a surprise snog!
