Steven proposes to Lauren!

This is the moment that devious Steven asks Lauren to be his wife this week – having tricked her into believing that he has a terminal brain tumour!
The twisted fella is so determined to keep Lauren from leaving him that he pops the question in the Queen Vic, as they’re surrounded by their respective families and friends. Seeing as she was set to end her relationship with Steven and move back to New Zealand, will guilt-ridden Lauren feel she has no choice but to accept his proposal?
“It doesn’t look like she has any other option!” reckons our Walford insider. “Lauren is determined to stand by Steven, but all the while he’s copping off with her sister, Abi, and together they’re plotting against her. She should have hopped on that jumbo jet when she had the chance!”
At the start of the week, Lauren is struggling to come to terms with Steven’s supposed cancer, and pushes him to tell Ian and Jane. That’s out of the question for Steven, though, as he battles to keep up the ruse.
However, after Lauren overhears an emotional conversation between Steven and Ian, she puts pressure on him again. But Steven has another bombshell for her – he wants to officially adopt Louie!
“Lauren’s not so sure about this because she’s always been adamant that Peter is Louie’s father, and so she points out that he should be involved in the decision,” reveals our mole. “But with Steven being not long for this world, she’s finding it very hard to say no to him!”
The situation grows more uncomfortable for Lauren after Steven announces that he’s meeting with a solicitor to apply for parental responsibility. Later that day, he gathers their loved ones in the pub and Lauren sits waiting anxiously, as she assumes he’s about to tell them about his tumour.
However, when Steven drops down on one knee and asks Lauren the question that she least wants to hear, it’s a nail-biting moment as he waits for her to answer. What will Lauren decide to do?
“The two people who Lauren trusts most – Abi and Max – are part of this sham,” sighs our sneak. “Steven has duped Abi into thinking he wants to be with her forever, and together they’re going to make Lauren suffer. So you can only imagine her surprise when he turns round and proposes to her sister!”
Meanwhile, Max’s motives for betraying his daughter are a little less clear, aside from the fact that he’s out to get everyone in Walford. But as the smug fella makes things even worse for Lauren in the wake of Steven’s proposal, will he be instrumental in sealing
her miserable fate?
