Max plays Carmel like a fiddle

THE CRUEL PAIR WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO GET WHAT THEY WANT…

- kate White

Conniving couple Max and Fi grow ever more cocky this week, as we see the secret lovers act affectionately in public for the first time. Does this brazen behaviour mean that their wicked plan is almost complete?

We’ve long known that Max and Fi are both employed – directly or indirectly – by the mysterious property firm Weyland & Co, but we had no inkling till last week that they were not only lovers, but also lived together in a lavish home away from the Square!

And while we’ve watched Max seduce poor Carmel in order to get his grubby hands on vital Walford Council files, it was a shock to learn that it was Fi who had been pulling his strings all along – and was happy for her man to bed another woman as a means to her own devious ends…

“Poor Carmel is absolutely smitten with Max, but she’s being played for a fool,” says our Eastenders source. “And that’s not the half of it. We thought this was just Max being Max – using people to get what he wants – but really it’s Fi who has spotted how vulnerable Carmel is, and worked out how best to exploit that weakness. Fi is the power behind the throne – she’s the Lady Macbeth of Walford!”

While Fi has Carmel right where she wants her, it becomes clear this week that Max isn’t getting the results that his partner demands, as Fi puts pressure on her lover to obtain more and better information. Max has to act fast – but can he convince Carmel to share the top-secret council files he needs?

“If Max wants Carmel’s full trust, he must go public with their romance,” shares our spy. “By keeping her a secret, Max has led Carmel to believe he’s not serious about her. Fi knows that to win over Carmel, Max must get serious.”

And it looks as if he’s doing just that when Max returns from plotting with Fi and makes a bold move to prove his feelings for Carmel – by snogging her in full view of everyone in the Queen Vic!

“Of course, starry-eyed Carmel is sent reeling by Max’s kiss,” shares our informant. “Now he’s told the whole Square that they’re an item, she’s putty in his hands!”

However, even as exultant Max and Fi move in for the kill, it seems their overconfidence might prove to be the pair’s undoing. After all, it would only take one person to rumble their true relationship, and the whole sordid conspiracy would be laid bare…

Fi is the power behind the throne – the Lady Macbeth of Walford!”
