Keanu accused!

WALFORD’S NIGHTMARE NEIGHBOURS CAN’T ESCAPE THEIR REPUTATION…

- Kate White

The Taylors go all out to show their softer side this week, in a bid to be accepted by the Walford community.

Despite her brash exterior, Karen is finding it tough being despised by so many of her neighbours and wants to start building a life in Albert Square. She thinks heading over to the Vic’s latest ladies’ night will be a good start, as it’s a chance to get to know the other local matriarchs.

“Allthough it takes a while, Karen does eventually make a good impression on the women of Walford,” grins our Eastenders spy. “But it soon becomes clear that there’s more work to be done to improve her family’s reputation – when they are accused of theft!”

Karen needs a night off after crossing swords with Keanu over welfare benefits. She’s keen for him to start claiming Universal Credit in order to keep cash coming into the household – but Keanu wants to get out and work. He’s worried they’ll never escape the benefits trap if they don’t start making new opportunities. But the sad fact is that with such a large family, they need all the money they can get.

When Karen heads off to ladies’ night, she’s feeling stressed and nervous – and with good reason, as she’s soon on the end of a frosty reception. However, Denise – who has more reason than most to shun Karen, after her nightmare with Keegan – decides to extend an olive branch to her new neighbour.

But the Taylors’ truce with the rest of the Square doesn’t last long. The Murrays get home to find they’ve been burgled, and Ted phones the police to report Karen and co for committing the crime. He has no evidence, though he’s convinced they must be behind the theft.

“Keanu is absolutely furious,” our insider tells us. “He’s sick and tired of the Taylors being seen as thieving dossers. He wants to work, not be on benefits – and he wants people to see the good in his family. So when Ted accuses them without any just cause, Keanu goes crazy – and who can blame him?”

Is there any way to repair the fractured relationship between the two families?
