It is, but she just wants to escape. It’s the anniversary of her son’s death, and she’s not ready to face her grief. The only way she’s been able to survive the loss of her son so far is to compartmentalise her life – but the anniversary brings the reality to the surface.
So what’s her reaction when she wakes up the next day in Justin’s bed?
“What did I do?”! She doesn’t know where she is at first. It’s scary for her to get so drunk.
It’s clear there’s an attraction between Scarlett and Justin – so why has she been keeping him at arm’s length?
Self-protection. She’s been through a lot of pain in the past year, so she’s currently in self-preservation mode, for sure. But at this stage she feels more towards Justin than she wants to admit. There’s a strong connection.
