WHAT WILL DERANGED STEVEN DO TO PROTECT HIS SECRETS?
Pathological liar Steven faces a new nightmare this week, as he’s forced to tell Ian and Jane that he’s dying.
The emotional confession comes after his fiancée Lauren insists they need to deal with his brain tumour as a family, and that means bringing in the rest of the Beales to help. For obvious reasons, Steven has been trying to persuade Lauren that Ian doesn’t need to know – but when his ‘illness’ is revealed and the questions begin, Steven starts to lose control…
“To tell a father who has already buried one child that another is dying is the very definition of cruelty,” shares our Eastenders snitch. “That Steven goes ahead with lying to Ian and Jane rather than come clean shows just how far he’s willing to take this. He knows that the brain tumour diagnosis will devastate his family, and he’d rather put them through hell than risk losing Lauren by revealing his scheme.”
Having trapped Lauren into agreeing to marry him before he ‘dies’, Steven believes he can get what he wants by seeing the plan through. Of course, he’s naive if he thinks that
Abi is going to let him and her sister live happily ever after!

So far, Steven has just about been coping with the pressure of keeping Abi happy and making Lauren believe his lie. However, with Jane and Ian added into the mix, it can only be a matter of time before the whole sorry scheme unravels.
Having been knocked for six by his son’s news, Ian goes into crisis mode and embarks on a mission to save Steven. But as he and Jane start to explore alternative treatments in the US and she asks Steven to consider every option, there’s hell to pay…
“Steven lets his mask slip and hits out at Jane,” says our informant. “When he bites her head off, Jane wonders if his reaction is just down to the strain of his illness. To her mind, if you were dying, you’d want to try whatever you could to save your life. For Steven to just shut down the idea as ‘false hope’ is deeply suspicious.”
Jane being Jane, she surely won’t rest until she finds out the real reason for Steven’s strange reaction. She’ll need to tread very carefully, though – after all, no one knows better than Jane what Steven is capable of when he’s backed into a corner…
