Opera singer Lesley Garrett picks her dream viewing…
The programme that I was absolutely glued to recently was Genius on National Geographic. It starred Geoffrey Rush as Albert Einstein, and the actor who played the young Einstein [Johnny Flynn], who was new to me, was amazing.
I watch anything that involves Victoria Wood. She was such a pioneer for women in the industry and I think she’s going to be missed forever. I’m a huge fan of Dinnerladies – you rarely get such good character development in comedy. It was very moving and touching.
My favourite film is Master And Commander. I’ve watched it about four times and I love everything about it – I love all the historical detail that they put into it, and I love the cast. I think Russell Crowe is an incredible actor, and I love the wonderful music in it too.
I’ve got two series on the go at the moment – one is Billions, with Damian Lewis, which is set in a world I know absolutely nothing about, and I love it for that. The other is Big Little Lies with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.
If I could be in any other show, I’d be David Attenborough’s binocular carrier on Planet Earth, because I think that’s just the most amazing series that’s been produced on any television channel. It should have a UNESCO World Heritage stamp!
