“Eva can still kick ass when she needs to!”

Cath lifts the lid on playing the Weatherfield wedding scammer…

-

We’ve loved watching Eva’s revenge plan take shape. What’s it been like to show the conniving side of her?

Heaven! I’ve absolutely loved it. When I first came into the show, Eva was very feisty and had a bit more of a catty side to her. So to see that come back and show that she can kick ass when she needs to is brilliant.

What did you think of Eva’s wedding dress?

Well, I actually picked it – and as you can see, it’s very subtle! I said to the lady in the wedding shop, “Eva wants to be a princess”, and this was the first dress she pulled out. It was so tight, though – I thought I was going to snap a rib!

What would you do if you were in Eva’s shoes?

I don’t know. Could I forgive someone if they cheated on me? My instinct says no, but when you love somebody that much… possibly, yes. I certainly wouldn’t do the revenge side of it all, though. I hate confrontation.

This has been such an ordeal for Eva. Do you think it will change her?

Of course. What’s happened has already changed her. But this whole thing will have a knock-on effect because her trust issues were bad to begin

with, and this has taken it to another level.

But is there a chance of romance for her and Adam? He obviously fancies her…

He does have a soft spot for Eva, and she likes to see the good in people.

That leads her to trust him a bit more than she should. But while she thinks he’s an attractive bloke, that’s where it stops. She’s still completely in love with Aidan.

These scenes are very dramatic – but what do you and Shayne (Ward, aka Aidan) do to relieve the tension on set?

We recreate movie scenes! We have an absolute scream, he’s just hilarious. Especially when we’ve been doing the emotional stuff, we have to laugh in between. I think my favourite one we’ve done is Men In Black

– I cried laughing that day!

How did you feel filming the wedding episodes?

I was absolutely buzzing when we filmed it! I didn’t sleep for a week – but I didn’t care because the scenes were so good. As a massive

Coronation Street fan, I read the scripts and I could just see it all playing out in my head. I couldn’t wait to film it!
