Darcy vs Maxine – bring it on!

Aisling JarrettGavin reveals that Darcy and Maxine’s feud could be about to intensify…

- Laura Heffernan

Darcy and Maxine were never going to be best friends, but tensions are now so high that the village is barely big enough for the two of them! It’s a pity each is determined to have Adam for themselves, because actress Aisling Jarrettgavin – who plays devious Darcy – reckons a man is the only thing coming between the girls…

“If Adam wasn’t involved, I think Darcy and Maxine might have been friends,” she declares. “It’s a shame, really. It’d be nice for Darcy to have a mate – especially since Maxine, Tracey and Grace have teamed up like Charlie’s Angels to get rid of her!”

In spite of her shortcomings, Darcy is showing no signs of clearing off – though that’s not due to a lack of effort on Maxine’s behalf! This week, Darcy wins a significant victory when her fiancé Jesse reaffirms his devotion to her – however, the key to her downfall could lay in her own past, as Darcy’s private investigator passes on some eyeopening information.

“Darcy is very scared by something that once happened,” shares Aisling. “It could really break her if the truth comes out – and after Tracey also finds out the secret, Darcy’s in deep trouble.”

Protective mum Tracey may be the one person who hates Darcy more than Maxine, so no doubt she’s desperate to spill her enemy’s secret to anyone who’ll listen! And while Maxine will lap up any dirt on her arch-enemy, Aisling reveals that she and cast mate Nikki Sanderson are tight off screen.

“Nikki doesn’t have a bad bone in her body,” gushes the star. “I first met her in the audition room when we had to do a screen test, and she was so kind and friendly – she even gave me a hug! Nikki is just one of those people who’s very warm and open, and I couldn’t ask for a better rival on the telly.

“My favourite scene we filmed together is the one we did outside the hospital, just the two of us,” continues Aisling. “It was when Darcy broke down and said she was a bad mum – I loved that because I felt like it was the first time Maxine saw why Darcy is the way she is. Everything she does is because she feels she owes her son a better life. I thought there was actually a genuine connection between Darcy and Maxine then, so Nikki and I really enjoyed it. I also found it easier to play than her usual bitchy stuff, because her more vulnerable side is the true Darcy…”
